How to play

Move all 15 of your checkers around the board into your home board (bottom right), then bear them off. The first to bear off all 15 wins.
Press Roll, then move checkers by the numbers on the dice. Doubles give four moves. Drag a checker to a highlighted point, or tap it and tap the point.
Land on a lone opposing checker (a blot) to hit it: it goes to the bar and must re-enter first.
A point with two or more opposing checkers is blocked. Gammon (2 points) and backgammon (3 points) are shown when you win big.

Your player ID

Everybody starts on 1000 points. You gain points by winning, more so against stronger opponents, and lose points by losing. You appear in the list after your first game; a ? behind a rating means it is still provisional.

Rules of Backgammon

Goal

Move all 15 of your checkers into your home board (points 1–6, bottom right) and bear them off. The first player to bear off all 15 checkers wins. You move from the top right round the board to the bottom right; your opponent moves the other way.

Your turn

Press Roll. Each die is a separate move: a checker may use both dice one after the other. Doubles give four moves of that number.
You must use as many dice as you can; if only one die can be played, it must be the larger one when possible. If no move is possible the turn passes.
At the start both players roll one die; the higher roll plays both numbers as the first move.

Points, hitting and the bar

You may land on an empty point, on your own checkers, or on a point with exactly one opposing checker (a blot): that checker is hit and goes to the bar. A point with two or more opposing checkers is blocked.
A checker on the bar must enter first, on the opponent’s home board (die 1 = his 1-point … die 6 = his 6-point), unless that point is blocked. You cannot move anything else until it is back.

Bearing off

You may bear off only when all 15 checkers are in your home board. A die bears off a checker from the point with that number; with no checker there and none higher, you bear off from the highest point instead. Otherwise move a checker inside the home board.
If a blot of yours is hit while bearing off, it must come back round before you can bear off again.

Winning big

A normal win is 1 point. A gammon (the loser has borne off no checker) is 2 points; a backgammon (the loser also has a checker on the bar or in your home board) is 3 points. The ranking only counts wins and losses.

Controls

Drag a checker to a highlighted point, or tap a checker and then the point. Double-tap a checker to play its largest move. Tap the tray (right side) to bear off.
